The 2020 County Cross Country Championships will take place at Tadcaster Grammar School (LS24 9NB) on Saturday 18th January. Start time is yet to be confirmed but will be around midday.
To take part in this event athletes must be selected to run for their district team. This event will be used to select athletes for the Inter Counties Cross Country Match and also the ESAA National Championships (Yrs 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, Juniors, Inters & Seniors) and also the Year 7 National event.
The Inter Counties match will be in Cumbria, venue TBC, on Saturday 8th February. If you are selected to represent North Yorkshire in this event you are expected to run. The ESAA Nationals will be held at Sefton Park, Liverpool on Saturday 14th March 2020. The selected team will travel on the Friday evening and stop over in Liverpool in a hotel. If selected, all athletes are expected to travel as part of the team except Seniors who are given the choice to stop over or attend on the day.
Selection:
The first 15 at Tadcaster (except first 12 in Year 7) will be invited to represent North Yorkshire on Saturday 8th February at Penrith, Cumbria at the Inter Counties match against Cleveland, Cumbria, Durham and Northumberland.
The first 6 in the Junior, Inter, Senior races at the County Championships at Tadcaster will be automatically selected for the English Schools Cross Country at Sefton Park, Liverpool on Saturday 14th March. The remaining 2 places for each of the teams, as well as reserves, will be selected after running at the Inter Counties on Saturday 8th February.
The first 8 Year 7 runners at Tadcaster will be automatically selected for a national event at Prestwood Hall, Leicestershire on Saturday 21st March, with the 2 remaining places selected after 8th February.
It is extremely important to note that athletes should not run if they are ill or injured.
Those who do not run through illness, injury, or a NYSAA agreed reason will be considered to run in the County match as their selection trial if they have cross country results to show that they are a realistic candidate for National event selection. This decision will be made by NYSAA.
