NYSAA County Cross Country Champs Information

Saturday 14th January 2023 – All details are below.

Aireville Park, Skipton     BD23 1US              

Most routes, from Harrogate A59, on to Skipton ByPass. 

Pass Golf Course on right. Next roundabout 3rd exit A59. Next roundabout first exit.

Pass Farm Shop on right, over mini roundabout, turn right signed Leisure Centre, Craven College.

Immediately turn right off driveway, into Craven College. Parking is there. NOT at Leisure Centre

Advice – Harrogate traffic can be very bad and unpredictable. 

Consider Knaresborough, Nidd, Ripley, Killinghall, turn right.

There are no services / toilets between Harrogate and Skipton. 

There are toilets at Ripley Sports Ground, near roundabout on Nidd / Killinghall side, not Pateley rbt.

Or try Outside Inn, on right near Menwith Hill, before Blubberhouses, opens 10am.

At the venue – Portable Toilets are ours, not the Leisure Centre.

There is a café in the Leisure Centre. Please remove any muddy footwear at the door. 

No changing facilities.

Area Team Managers will have numbers. Please bring 4 safety pins. 

FIRST AID 

In the first instance, athletes should refer to their team managers on the day. Should more specialist care be needed, there will be attendance from St John’s Ambulance / similar.

Whilst we recognise not everyone will have spikes or fell shoes, please be aware that the course is likely to be muddy. Football boots may well be better than trainers

Junior = Year 8 and 9. Inter – Year 10 and 11. If athletes are in the “normal” school year for birth age.

Arrive at least an hour before race time. A recent running event there saw some arriving late.

12.30 Inter Girls – start loop + 2 short laps = 3700m             
12.40 Inter Boys –  1 long + 2 short laps =  4850m               
1.10 Year 7 Boys – start loop + 1 short = 2150m                   
1.14 Year 7 Girls – start loop + 1 short = 2150m                    
1.30 Junior Boys – start loop + 2 short laps = 3700m
1.40 Junior Girls – 2 short laps = 3100m
2.00 Senior Girls – start loop + 2 short laps = 3700
2.06 Senior Boys – 3 long laps = 5300m,  

Athletes must not run if they are ill or injured. Those with strong cross country race results this winter can be considered for a place in the match on 4 Feb. They must have informed their Area Team Manager.

Junior, Intermediate and Senior 

The first 15 will be selected to represent the county at the North East intercounties match on Feb 4th 2023. Currently due to be hosted by Durham.

The first 6 will be selected for the English Schools Championships, in Nottingham on 18th March. 

2 others will be selected after the match on 4 February

Year 7

The first 12 will be selected to represent the county at the North East intercounties match on Feb 4th 2023.

The first 6 will be selected represent the county in the Leicestershire Cross Country, Prestwold Hall,

Sat 25 March. 4 others will be selected after the match on 4 February.

Invitations to these events will be in the letters handed out at the finish line.

PRESENTATIONS

Runners finishing in the first three will be awarded medals at the end of the events.
